Message from the Chair
Welcome to the new website for the Government Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Texas.
There are more than 8,000 government lawyers in Texas and we would like to have all of you become members of our section. The amazing diversity of our membership is one of our greatest resources and one of our greatest challenges.
The Section’s 2009-2010 officers and council members are your point of contact for any questions you may have. We are seeking to expand our services, benefits, and membership. We need your input and participation.
We currently
- Co-sponsor the Suing and Defending Governmental Entities Seminar and conduct a one day Boot Camp the day before the Suing and Defending Governmental Entities Seminar
- Provide additional CLE at the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting and at other events
- Produce newsletters
- Maintain a listserve
- Have a representative on the Supreme Court Task Force To Expand Legal Services Delivery
- Provide representatives to the State Bar of Texas Section Mentoring Program for law schools.
This year we are planning to have at least one webcast CLE event with a discount for section members. We are working to address the needs of government lawyers who find it difficult to travel for CLE.
We also want to encourage submissions for our newsletter and library. We want our website to be a valuable resource for our members. It is a “work in progress” and we encourage suggestions and contributions to content.
Welcome to our new members and thank you to our renewing members. Please provide us with feedback concerning your needs and how we can better serve you.
